Christmas Songs

Holiday carols and music

What is Christmas without all of the beautiful music that comes along with this amazing holiday season? There are very many songs that one can enjoy, with about a thousand renderings of each one. And let’s not forget the Christmas carols and carolers, who seem to be all in tow moving from house to house spreading their own brands of holiday cheer. This is a very important time for music, and a very enjoyable time for listening to these musical gems that are usually only heard one month out of a whole year.

On the radio, in stores, everywhere you go at this time of year, you hear Christmas music. Even if it’s not your usual preferred listening style, only Grinches and Scrooges can honestly claim not to enjoy it. Get yourself in the holiday mood at home, as well, by playing something Christmassy on the stereo. If you will be hosting any Christmas parties, especially, it is important to have a few Christmas CDs on hand. It need not be all Christmas carols, all the time. Mix in some staples like “Jingle Bells” or “Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer,” along with some non-traditional holiday music from your favorite pop artists. Then round out the playlist with some everyday selections (pop or classical, your choice) so that guests don’t overdose on holiday spirits.

Christmas songs evoke images back to Christmases past for everyone. Many parents may find themselves feeling a little nostalgia for when they were enjoying these songs in their own childhoods. This is one of the amazing things about Christmas songs; they have the effect of bringing back so many memories of earlier points in peoples’ lives. Imagine when you heard “White Christmas” for the first time and got the train set or the doll that you so desired. Imagine the happiness and wave of love that came over you when you listened to one of these various Christmas songs and felt everything right in the world. It was lovely, wasn’t it?

Christmas carols are a great way to feel the spirit of Christmas and also deliver some warmth at the same time. Gather intimate friends and family, and go throughout your own neighborhood singing these sweet songs to your neighbors. The amazing thing about this is that all you need is a little bit of holiday cheer and a printed sheet of Christmas carol lyrics. Bundle up, and be on your way. If you are musically talented, pick up some Christmas sheet music and teach yourself some tunes. It may be a little cold out to strum a guitar on people’s doorsteps, but you can gather folks around the fireplace or Christmas tree to have a little Christmas sing-along indoors. Christmas caroling will make you love the holiday season that much more, and each year you can continue the tradition, and pass it along to the ones you love.
