Easter Crafts
Crafts and other Easter activities
Keeping the children active and happy during Easter break might seem like a daunting task, but not with a little forethought and planning. Most every kid enjoys creating crafts, and with a lineup of Easter activities and Easter craft ideas, the children won’t necessarily be munching on their Easter basket goodies all day long.
Easter Craft Ideas
Beyond Easter coloring pages, there are many simple Easter crafts for kids that let them create something unique, just for themselves. For example, a paper bag Easter bunny is sure to bring some delight and laughter, plus it can be used to hold Easter treats.
Items needed for a paper bag bunny:
- favor bag or brown paper (lunch) bag
- googly eyes
- tacky glue
- 1 small white pom-pom
- 1 cotton ball
- scissors (please help younger children)
- 3 pipe cleaners (white)
- white card stock or regular paper
- newspaper
Spread out the newspaper to work on. Cut off the top of the bag, so that it is square. Cut bunny ears from card stock, shaped like the flame of a candle, and glue them to the front of the paper bag. Glue on the eyes, pom-pom nose, pipe cleaner whiskers and cotton ball tail. This little “basket” can be used for foil treats. This is a superb Easter craft for kids.
Easter Games
One of the most popular and most common Easter games is the Easter egg hunt. This can take place indoors or out, depending on the weather. Brightly colored plastic eggs are recommended for indoor hunts because if hardboiled eggs are used and one is not located, it will eventually make itself known in a malodorous way. Fill the eggs with treats, coins or possibly stickers, anything children like that can fit inside the egg. Don’t make locating them too difficult or the children will get frustrated and frustration does not equal fun. However, don’t made finding them too easy or the hunt won’t feel like a challenge.
The egg roll is another fun and exciting Easter game for children. Using hard-boiled eggs, mark off a starting point and an ending point (5 to 10 feet away). Have the children roll their eggs across this area with their noses only. The first to make it across the finish line wins!
Other Easter Activities
Children always enjoy Easter coloring pages, complete with pastel crayons. Other Easter activities might include egg decorating, mazes and word puzzles based on Easter, watching Easter movies and helping with Easter dinner and dessert.
